描述Latin America is a megadiverse territory hosting several hotspots of plant diversity and many types of forest biomes, ecosystems and climate types, from tropical rainforest to semi-arid woodlands. This combination of diverse forests and climates generates multiple responses to ecological changes affecting the structure and functioning of forest ecosystems. Recently, there have been major efforts to improve our understanding of such impacts on ecosystems processes. However, there is a dearth of studies focused on Latin-American forest ecosystems that could provide novel insights into the patterns and mechanisms of ecological processes in response to environmental stress. The abundance of “New World” tree species with dendrochronological potential constitutes an ideal opportunity to improve the ecological state of knowledge regarding these diverse forest types, which are often threatened by several impacts such as logging or conversion to agricultural lands. Thus, detailed information on the dendroecology of these species will improve our understanding of forests in the face of global change. Accordingly, this book identifies numerous relevant ecological processes and scales, ranging

How Past and Future Climate and Drought Drive Radial-Growth Variability of Three Tree Species in a By impacted .. These different growth responses to climate and drought contribute to explain the coexistence of tree species in SDTFs. The growth patterns of the study species are valuable climate proxies for Bolivia. Forecasted warmer conditions after the 2050s will differently affect the growth var

Forest Dynamics in the Argentinean Patagonian Andes: Lessons Learned from Dendroecologyres and decline) on forest dynamics. For each case, we summarized the process, and the dendrocronological methods used. In this way, it was possible to detect those gaps of knowledge that still can be explored using dendroecological methods in the Patagonian forests of Argentina.

Patterns of Tree Establishment Following Glacier-Induced Floods in Southern Patagoniares after the ice-dam break. Using Ripley’s spatial analysis, a 100% significant association between species was recorded at sites where two or more species were present. Species dominance was largely modulated by the composition of neighboring non-flooded forests and the climatic conditions along t

A Dendro-Spatial Analysis in Tree Growth Provides Insights into Forest Productivityperature, evaporation and drought. The results revealed non-random growth patterns in all three species, with high competition in terms of BAI. The values of BAI showed some variations in productivity with two opposing trends in . and .. Both species exhibited signs of a decline attributable, presum
