Collateral Lateral Ligament Repair: Anatomic Ligaments Reinsertion with Augmentation Using an Extens seems more suitable than in the Gould modification. Prior to the procedure, as a guideline for decision-making, an exhaustive preoperative assessment is mandatory to determine all the factors associated or related to the chronic instability of the ankle. Postoperative outcomes and long-term follow-up results of this technique are discussed.

Anatomy of the Ankle Ligamentsportant ligaments related to injury and instability are described. The ligaments around the ankle are divided into groups according to their anatomic position: the lateral ligament complex, the medial ligament complex, the ligaments of the tibiofibular syndesmosis, and the subtalar ligaments.

Microinstability of the Ankle latterly be confirmed arthroscopically. Moreover, there are also no reproducible objective findings on clinical examination which also contributes to its poor characterization..In this chapter, the topic of ankle lateral microinstability is presented and discussed in detail from diagnosis and implications to treatment.
