Acoustic Receptivity in Boundary Layers with Surface Roughnessristic heart-shaped disturbance wedge downstream from the roughness. This behaviour is consistent with the numerical and asymptotic work of other authors, who also predict the off-centreline peak amplitude that is observed several wavelengths downstream from the roughness.

A Causal Stability Analysis of the Boundary Layer over a Compliant Wallull study of this behaviour is made, including the interesting limit in which the boundary layer is very thin on the scale of the plate bending waves. Non-Parallel Receptivity and the Adjoint PSEhe scattering of an acoustic wave onto a hump. It is shown that acting on the flow with a source of streamwise momentum and at the wall with fluid injection and suction produces large responses. The flow sensitivity results are keys to an effective control of the instability.
