Detecting Subsurface Hydrocarbons with Elastic Wavefields, by its slope and intercept at normal incidence. These slope and intercept parameters contain useful information about the elastic properties of the subsurface. In particular, they can be used to detect the presence of hydrocarbons, because of the distinct effects that hydrocarbons have on the elastic properties of the subsurface.

How Many Parameters Can One Solve for in Diffuse Tomography?,und is tight. Although the complexity of analysis increases with dimension, the technique of introducing a “slit” should apply to higher dimensions. Therefore, only two and three dimensional systems are considered here.

Finding the Density of a Membrane from Nodal Lines,on. The algorithms use nodal positions and the corresponding natural frequencies to construct a piecewise constant approximation to the density distribution of the membrane. Both algorithms are numerically implemented using numerically simulated data.
