Spatial Logic for image representation and retrieval-by-contents,ions of imaged scenes; the incomplete knowledge by the user is considered by permitting different levels of detail in the description of the spatial relationships. A system which exploits Spatial Logic to support image retrieval by contents through iconic interaction is presented.

Communication among perceiving agents,pattern understanding. Planning is shown to provide a unifying formalism to control the different functionalities of an intelligent agent, whose internal architecture is also outlined. Finally, an on-going research work is briefly reported, concerning a software environment to design multi-agent systems, and an application built on top of it.
