The roles and needs of mathematics teachers using IT,rs and of their pedagogical agenda. Renewed and diversified roles confront teachers in an IT educational environment. Pre-service and in-service teacher education must help all of them to modify their attitudes and develop the new competencies in mathematics, informatics and the didactics essential for them to fulfil their pedagogical mission.

Using evidence about teacher development to plan systemic revolution, of IT, and only a minority of teachers use IT to support their teaching. Teacher concerns regarding IT are reported. Finally, the paper offers a model of school development which highlights the changing demands on teachers as IT is integrated progressively into the curriculum.

Factors affecting the use of computers in the classroom: four case studies,only very slowly. Teachers adopt new media if they can use them in accordance with their existing beliefs and practice. The findings of this study coincide to a large extent with the results of many other studies of classroom practice.
