Physiology of Oxygen Transport and Gas Laws, Each gas in the atmospheric mixture exerts its relative pressure based upon its proportion in the mixture. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy includes administration of pure oxygen at an elevated pressure, thereby enhancing the physiological effects of oxygen compared to oxygen inhaled at normal atmospheric pressure.
