描述Der verdichtete Wohnbau ist ein Indikator für die soziale Verfasstheit einer Gesellschaft. Die Mehrheit der Bevölkerung will im Einfamilienhaus wohnen. Die Frage ist, ob sich diese ersehnte Qualität auch im verdichteten Wohnbau realisieren lässt. Über 400 Studenten der TU Wien haben im Rahmen eines Entwurfsstudios diese Frage bearbeitet und Wohnbauprojekte unterschiedlicher Dichten und Milieus entwickelt. Zusammen mit Beiträgen renommierter ArchitektInnen wie Silvia Boday, Marlies Breuss, Eva Ceska, Maria Flöckner, Susanne Fritzer, Katharina Fröch, Kinayeh Geiswinkler-Aziz, Gerda Maria Gerner, Feria Gharakhanzadeh, Adele Gindlstrasser, Ulrike Hausdorf, Franziska Orso, Ursula Schneider und Martina Schöberl werden ausgewählte Arbeiten in diesem Buch dokumentiert. Einleitend werden konträre Konzepte horizontaler und vertikaler Verdichtung im Wohnbau in Form von Interviews mit den Architekten Harry Glück und Roland Rainer (geführt von Gerhard Steixner und Maria Welzig) gebracht.
