描述Infection with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and humanT-cell lymphotropic virus type I (HTLV-I) is known to be associatedwith an increased risk of neoplastic disorders, especially Kaposi‘ssarcoma and aggressive B-cell lymphoma for the former, and T-celllymphoma for the latter. The information obtained from the study ofthese infections has led to remarkable advances in our understandingof the immune system, as well as the biology of human neoplasms. Themanagement of malignant diseases in such patients also posessubstantial challenges to clinicians. This book provides an overviewof the epidemiology, biology, clinical features, and clinicalmanagement of neoplasms occurring in such individuals. It is animportant resource for clinicians treating these diseases, and forbasic scientists who have an interest in this field.

Diagnosis of Other Primary Headachesesis and normal blood counts are more prone to the myelosuppressive effects of cytotoxic therapy or other hematosuppressive medications. This chapter will discuss the potential causes of abnormal hematopoiesis that occurs in HIV infection, and the role of colony stimulating factors (CSFs) and cytokines in their management.
