Biosynthesis of the Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule (N-CAM) Glial, Muscle and Neuronal Forms of N-CAM Previous studies from this laboratory have described a cell surface glycoprotein called D2 (1). The neural cell adhesion molecule (N-CAM; 2), as well as the BSP-2 antigen (3), have been shown to be identical to D2 (4, 5, 6). We will therefore hence forward refer to the molecule as N-CAM.
