The same construction as for the digital dead leaves model, but with different elementary rules of combination, provides other well-known models : the boolean R.F. and the dilution R.F.

The Internal Consistency of Models in Geostatisticshich a covariance function is the covariance of a random set, and of a lognormal random function are considered in detail. Only partial answers and some counter-examples are presented here. The models currently available, where these consistency conditions are automatically satisfied, are réviewed.

Geostatistical Characterization of Fractal Models of Surfacesigin of variograms are compared. A brief discussion of the more common techniques for simulating fractals demonstrates their limited usefulness compared to geostatistical techniques. The possibilities of using fractal dimensions and the models and techniques of the fractal approach in general for the study of natural surfaces are then discussed.

Kriging Variables that Satisfy the Partial Differential Equation ΔZ = Y, later on, how the theory of intrinsic random functions of order k (IRF-k) helps to solve the problem rapidly. As an illustration, we present a one-dimensional example where Z(x.) is estimated from the data Y(x.). Results obtained by using kriging and the finite differences methoa are compared.
