It is concluded that, the proper use of bends at a distance from the fault line, may be beneficial for the pipeline, reducing the strain developed in the pipeline wall.

Numerical Models for Pipelines Under Large Ground-Induced Deformationsnt models (FEM or FEA). Both levels are discussed extensively and guidance on how to develop the corresponding models is offered. Finally, results from the two types of models are presented for a specific case of fault crossing, showing a good comparison between the two approaches.
