The Gley Processes of Reduction in Epigenesis,hydrogen sulfide and no oxygen. Anaerobic bacteria thrive in such environments. They obtain their oxygen by breaking down different substances. Their waste products — carbon dioxide, methane, organic acids, etc. — are dissolved in water.
