Genome Structure and Comparative Genomicshe grasses radiated some 70 million years ago. Comparing the structure of the ancestral grass genome with that of current-day Setaria and sorghum showed that the Setaria genome has undergone more rearrangements than sorghum. The reasons for the greater stability of the sorghum compared to the Setaria genome are unknown.
