描述.Genetic effects are the core concepts from which quantitative genetics and the evolutionary synthesis emerged. The groundbreaking theory of genetic effects was first proposed over a century ago. This book revises that theory, both conceptually and mathematically, and brings it up-to-date...The theory here compiled is supplemented with non-previously-published developments covering the broadest spectrum of simultaneously multiallelic and multilocus architectures with autosomal and sex-linked loci.Arbitrary interactions (dominance, gene-gene, gene-environment, gene-sex, and parent-of-origin interactions) are accounted for. Both effects of allele substitutions from the reference of individual genotypes and in the context of populations are worked out.Populations are considered regardless of any departures from equilibrium frequencies (including both departures from Hardy-Weinberg, departures from linkage equilibrium, and non-random associationsbetween/among genes and environments). All developments are derived under the same mathematical framework, so that transformations of genetic effects between different contexts are easily allowed..In brief, this book enables novel applications to

Genetic Effects Over One Century,t of a more ambitious framework that unifies, generalizes, and further implements them. Such framework is presented in the following chapters. Points raised in previous chapters on key warnings made about how to properly model genetic effects and on valuable lessons the history of genetics teaches u

Genetic Architectures at the Individual Level, rinting. Some of the models here developed have not been published previously. Indications on how to proceed when several of the previous situations occur simultaneously (e.g., multiple alleles and multiple loci) are provided. The models here presented enable us to better tackle the distinction betw

Genetic Effects in Populations Under Linkage Equilibrium, ously, while some others have been obtained using different approaches in previous publications. In order to facilitate the understanding of this theory, all the results are here developed following a common regression framework. These results open new possibilities of quantitative genetic analyses,

A General Theory of Genetic Effects, ogonal interactions (COIA) regression framework. In particular, this chapter gathers both already published and novel developments to satisfactorily deal with such non-random associations, and implement them into an associations-resolved NOIA (ARNOIA)—an upgrade of NOIA to a 2.0 version. This theory

Applied Cases of Advanced Genetic Modelling,es built-in instances of disease susceptibility under different environmental conditions reflecting situations of importance in the field of precision medicine, and it shows that useful accurate predictions of the coefficient of the disease can be provided using ARNOIA.
