Wilfried Wienen,Hildegard Wustmannsase exponentially with a decay rate slower than wave particle velocity decay. Reynolds stress increased as the wave steepness increased and decreased exponentially with depth. Horizontal and vertical velocity probability density distributions displayed only small variations from the normal probability density distribution.

The Determination of Henry’s Constant for Volatile Organics by Equilibrium Partitioning in Closed Sycompared with literature values and with Henry’s constants measured in a bubble column. The results indicate that the technique is accurate. In addition, the technique is unencumbered by equilibration problems which limit the utility of other methods for determining Henry’s constant.

Volatilization of Chlorinated Hydrocarbons from Waternt over a wide range of mixing conditions showed that the chlorinated hydrocarbon/oxygen coefficient ratios for both compounds were independent of mixing conditions. Ratios of 0.596 and 0.621 were obtained for 1,1,1-trichloroethane and 1,2-dichloroethane, respectively.

A Laboratory Technique for Investigating the Relationship between Gas Transfer and Fluid Turbulenceertically oscillating grid whose stroke length, frequency, and distance from the interface are adjustable. Preliminary results using five gases (O., N., CH., CO., and Rn) indicate that the data are consistent with surface renewal and energy dissipation models of gas exchange.
