Small-Scale Testing of End-Restrained Tubular Beam-Columns,It has been common practice in the design of tubular columns to assume an “effective lenght factor” which is intended to include the effects of end restraints. Usually this factor is in the range of 0.8 to 1.0 but there is little experimental evidence to support this.

Experimental and Theoretical Research into the Collision Resistance of Inland LPG-Carriers,When LPG is transported by inland-waterway carriers, the collision resistance of these vessels is crucial for the determination of risk factors of this type of transport. Essential as to this determination is to establish which penetration depths give rise to leakage of the gas tanks in these vessels.

Investigation of this problem has involved both experimental and analytical studies of the way in which external load is transferred through a thread previously preloaded by tightening a lockring with a prescribed torque.
