The Distribution and Clearance of L-Asparaginasecells has been the subject of numerous presentations at this symposium. The purpose of this report is to describe an automated method for the assay of L-asparaginase and to present data concerning the distribution and clearance of administered L-asparaginase.

Critical Influence of an Enzyme-Elevating Virus upon Long-Term Remissions of Mouse Leukemia Followince of a non-cytopathic, and otherwise benign replicating agent as an adjunct in asparaginase therapy was somewhat unexpected and to our knowledge has no theoretical antecedent. This virus is variously known as the lactate dehydrogenase-elevating virus, the LDH-virus, the enzymes-elevating virus and by other designations [65, 671].

Studies on the Glutaminase Activity of E. coli Asparaginase in Tissue Culturee lost the ability to synthesize L-asparagine and thus depend on the exogenous supply of this amino acid. Yet it is not always sufficiently considered that E. coli asparaginase also possesses a small amount of L-glutaminase activity [1] and in high dosage may become effective by depriving the cells of L-glutamine.

Experimental Investigations on Problems of the Clinical Use of L-Asparaginaseuseful to study experimentally problems which arose from the clinical use of the enzyme. Consequently we investigated the influence of the following factors on tumor inhibition: dosage, duration of treatment, treatment schedules, treatment of Crasnitin resistant tumors, combined treatment with Crasnitin, and immunological factors in enzyme therapy.
