描述.Over the last few decades information and communication technology has come to play an increasingly prominent role in our dealings with other people. Computers, in particular, have made available a host of new ways of interacting, which we have increasingly made use of. In the wake of this development a number of ethical questions have been raised and debated. Ethics in Cyberspace focuses on the consequences for ethical agency of mediating interaction by means of computers, seeking to clarify how the conditions of certain kinds of interaction in cyberspace (for example, in chat-rooms and virtual worlds) differ from the conditions of interaction face-to-face and how these differences may come to affect the behaviour of interacting agents in terms of ethics..

It is most unfortunate but perhaps not surprising that the initial formulation of the basic premise suffers from several weaknesses that cannot be ignored. These shortcomings must be more closely examined — and a revised ver

Interaction in cyberspaceliefs concerning the reality of the particular interacting party. This requires some understanding both of the elements constituting interaction and of the notion of cyberspace. The previous chapter elaborated on the notions of intentional action and moral motivation and fitted them into an explanat

Belief and reality). The three hypotheses all link an agent‘s conviction concerning the reality of a particular agent to certain other beliefs and to the availability of evidence in support of these other beliefs. As has already been emphasized, it is vital to understand that the hypotheses are epistemological and no

Ethics in cyberspacey be affected by moving the setting of interaction from outside to inside cyberspace, and finally to show how these changes may lead an agent to behave differently, ethically speaking, in the two settings..In the process of addressing the topics mentioned we will focus our attention more specificall
