K. Idelberger (Professor Dr. med.)argues for a greater fluidity in critical terminology in the history of emotions, in order to encompass cross-cultural embodied emotion. Within this, it also suggests the term ‘death-affect’ to encapsulate the unique devotional affect cultivated by solitaries imaged as ‘dead to the world’ in both traditions.
