A non-monotonic dependence of the relaxation rate on this coupling constant is found mainly due to the emergence of new bound states inside the energy gap. This is observed in the evolution of the soliton lattice from a periodic array of well separated kinks and antikinks to either a small amplitude bond-order wave or a marginal Fermi liquid.
