Metaphysics without Ontology: W, Bi and the ading of the ., which understands Dao as a monolithic, static, abstract, fundamental reality akin to the Vedantic concept of Brahman. I will argue that W. Bi’s commentary can be read as more sympathetic to a process understanding, which understands Dao as pluralistic, dynamic, and concrete, than to an ontological one.
