描述.This textbook gives an insight into the importance of cell migration in health during development, wound healing and immune responses as well as in disease with particular focus on cancer. The reader will learn about the different ways cells migrate to allow cellular changes during development to occur, as well as responses to injury and threat by foreign invaders. Cell migration is a driver of invasion and ultimately metastasis in cancer and as such we will give examples from highly aggressive cancer such as brain tumours. The book also includes an introduction to mathematical modelling to predict cell migration, information on the development of software for analysis of data generated in 2D and 3D as well as recent developments in the investigations into cell migration using 3D bioprinting...This textbook will be a great learning tool for advanced undergraduate students and Master students with the relevant science degrees such as in cell biology, developmental biology, cancer research, and tumour biology..

Cell Migration in Developmentnd molecular regulation pathways that are evolutionarily conserved throughout the animal kingdom. Representative developmental processes are to explain general migrational processes, for example epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) or the role of proteins of the family of RhoGTPases for migrat

Cell Migration in Immune Responsesariety of diseases. The ability to confidently navigate a complex extracellular space is at the core of an effective immune response. Indeed, motility represents a key aspect of immune cell behavior, fundamental to eliminating invading pathogens, scanning tissues for damage, and detecting developing

Cell Migration in Cancer; Cell Migration in 2D and 3Der is that tumour cells can leave the original tumour, migrate and invade distant tissues. Tumour cells can migrate via several different mechanisms. Solid epithelial-derived tumours initially disseminate via the epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) program. This allows cells to acquire a mesench

Biophysical and Biochemical Foundations of Cell Migrationmotility of single cells and their collective aspects, such as herding, as demonstrated in eukaryotic cells during development. After introducing metrics typically used to quantify and characterize cell motility, a simple quantitative model of cell migration is presented. Step-by-step introduction t

Methods to Investigate Cell Migrationith deregulated cell migration. The study of cell migration has been made possible by the development of a huge variety of experimental set-ups in 2D and 3D focussing on specific aspects of cell migration. In this chapter, some of such specific aspects of cell migration will be discussed and the ass

3D Bioprinting of Cell Migration effective ways of mimicking human tissues for the assessment of cell migration is through 3D bioprinting of tissue models. There exists a range of technologies that employ the principles of 3D bioprinting that allow the tailorability of bioinks and printing parameters so that both optimal cell viab

Using High-Resolution Imaging to Investigate Cell Migration In Vitroviour of specific proteins within cells to understand their dynamic behaviour and location. Within the last 20 years, multiple different forms of fluorescent microscopies have been developed to achieve this. With the vast array of different approaches available, it can be difficult to know where to
