Russian Philosophy from Solovyev to Shestov,ta linespectrum into the background for some time. Yet, especially in Cambridge, great efforts were made to obtain a better understanding of the line spectrum. In this chapter, we shall see how this work led to a satisfactory quantum theory of internal conversion.
