https://doi.org/10.1007/978-1-349-16784-5d? What if our minds are already riding on the backs of billions of tiny accomplices, akin to the co-evolved mitochondria that power our bodies? Alternatively, what if consciousness is a deeper reality than neurons and even atoms, planets and stars? What if our future bends toward a kind of transcendence? Or what if all that is a painful delusion?
