描述.This book presents the latest computational models of rhythm and meter that are based on number theory, combinatorics and pattern matching. Two computational models of rhythm and meter are evaluated: The first one explores a relatively new field in Mathematics, namely Combinatorics on Words, specifically Christoffel Words and the Burrows-Wheeler Transform, together with integer partitions. The second model uses filtered Farey Sequences in combination with specific weights that are assigned to inter-onset ratios. This work is assessed within the context of the current state of the art of tempo tracking and computational music transcription. Furthermore, the author discusses various representations of musical rhythm, which lead to the development of a new shorthand notation that will be useful for musicologists and composers...Computational Models of Rhythm and Meter. also contains numerous investigations into the timing structures of human rhythm and metre perception carried out within the last decade. Our solution to the transcription problem has been tested using a wide range of musical styles, and in particular using two recordings of J.S. Bach‘s Goldberg Variations by Glenn Gou

A Shorthand Notation for Musical Rhythm, thmic patterns to illustrate nearly all of the musical examples in this book. Its compact form not only allows me to quote rhythms within the running text, it also helps to visualize metric groups of various sizes in a clear and concise way. Based on the work of Giger (Die Kunst des Rhythmus: Profes

Partitions and Musical Sentences, . method. The model uses a technique, which subdivides a series of pulses into smaller and smaller sections until what is left are so-called rhythmic chunks. These are the binary or ternary cells that are found in Greek verse rhythms, for example, and which are represented by symbols in SNMR (see C

Models of Musical Meter, Temporal Perception and Onset Quantization, music notation. For the collection of note onset data used by the rhythm quantization and transcription algorithms, which I develop in Chap. ., we need to understand and apply current techniques of onset detection from various data sources. For instance, we would like to know how accurate they are,

High Speed Networking Solutions,). I will introduce in this chapter terminology that will recur throughout the book, and I am trying to give a greater perspective to these terms and why they are helpful for our discussion of rhythm and meter.
