描述Recent years have witnessed the development of computationalgeomechanics as an important branch of engineering. The use of moderncomputational techniques makes it possible to deal with many complexengineering problems, taking into account many of the typicalproperties of geotechnical materials (soil and rock), such as thecoupled behaviour of pore water and solid material, nonlinearelasto-plastic behaviour, and transport processes. This book providesan introduction to these methods, presenting the basic principles ofthe geotechnical phenomena involved as well as the numerical modelsfor their analysis, and including full listings of computer programs(in PASCAL). The types of geotechnical problems considered cover awide range of applications, varying from classical problems such asslope stability, analysis of foundation piles and sheet pile walls tofinite element analysis of groundwater flow, elasto-plasticdeformations, consolidation and transport problems..

Stochastic Dominance Decision Rules, simplest problems of wave propagation in a mathematical sense, and therefore it may be used to illustrate some of the main characteristics of dynamics. Several methods of analysis will be used: the Laplace transform method, separation of variables, the method of characteristics, and numerical solution.
