Motivation for a theoretical foundation for collaborative networksave suffered from ad-hoc approaches, being urgent to establish a proper theoretical foundation for the area. Furthermore, the fast developments in the area and the nature of the paradigm configure the emergence of a new discipline, which needs to be built on a sounder theoretical basis.
