Where the CL approach differs from some others, however, is first in how it describes a word’s represented meaning, and second in how it perceives grammar as another form of symbolism.

Such an approach means that a syllabus will vary greatly from language to language and cannot be simply a list of the communicative functions that a given age-group of international learners are deemed to need.

Raymond L. Higgins,C. R. Snyder this chapter I will first explore how these principles could be elaborated as the basis of a pedagogical grammar. To do this I will look more closely at the construction as the central grammatical form and will then consider how such forms are acquired through usage as a type from tokens.
