Characterizing Collaborative Workflow and Health Information Technologyderstand how these connections form prior to introducing technology to automate it. Collaborative workflows are not static, but rather dynamic processes. Health IT design therefore needs to be flexible so that it can evolve along with the collaborative processes that it is automating.

Patient-Oriented Workflow Approachn and implement HIT that can account for care across the entire patient journey, healthcare delivery must be examined as an integrated system of a longitudinal process rather than a cluster of discrete tasks/processes in isolated environments. Patient-oriented workflow can provide the needed integrated perspective.
