Pauli Repulsion Effects in Scattering from and Catalysis by Surfacesn changes (i.e. cluster excitations) is discussed for CO on Cu adsorption. The enhancement of the selectivity of the ethylene epoxidation by the presence of subsurface O below the catalytic Ag surface provides another example of the importance of the relief of Pauli repulsion.

In Situ Observation of Surface Chemistry, Growth and Nucleation of Ultrafine Particles in Gas Suspenaller particles in the nanometre size range where light scattering is so weak that optical detection methods fail. The smallest particles of this class have diameters of ~ 1 nanometre. This establishes a bridge from the physics of aerosol particles to the physics of clusters of a few atoms where quantum phenomena are dominant.
