Semi-microscopic approach to the imaginary part of the heavy ion optical potential,nergy dependent imaginary potential is derived which is both surface transparent and strongly absorptive in the interior region. The model is sufficient to explain the main features of the .O-.O excitation functions up to 80 MeV.
