More recently, Iain McLean has argued that the Church of England’s position should be put on the same footing as the Church of Scotland (McLean and Linsley 2004).

Church/State Relations in Scandinavia they have in common apart from Lutheran theology is that all began as state churches established by law and all identify strongly with the people of the country that they serve: the ‘folk-church’ concept.
