Existing research has shown that using short dressing times not only reduces the number of nursing hours but also limits the need for costly dressing material. In addition, both wound observation and patients’ personal hygiene are made easier.

This chapter details on the components of the ECM, cells, and soluble factors, and their roles in both physiological and pathological cutaneous scar formation, in the process identifying potential therapeutic targets to promote functional regeneration of normal tissue.

It has a biphasic dose-response relationship, promoting wound healing when given at lower dosimetric parameters while can be harmful or have no effect at higher levels. LLLT is an effective tool as an adjuvant for acute/chronic wounds, non-healing ulcers, musculoskeletal disorders, skin rejuvenation, hair growth and pain management.
