Between these two PARs there is the non-recombining region of the human Y chromosome (NRY), which comprises about 95% of the chromosome. This NRY does not undergo sexual recombination and is thus male-specific.

The X Chromosome Plays a Special Role During Speciationeries”. According to our present view speciation describes the last steps during the evolutionary process which gave rise to the respective species. e.g. human speciation lasts back 5–6 million years when the common ancestor of human and chimpanzee lived. We view evolution as a discontinuous process of single speciation events.
