Rainer Diaz-Bone,Udo Kelle,Jo Reichertznglo English (CAE) speaker and a Chicano English speaker, revealed evidence of/u/-fronting, a sound change taking place in the local Anglo community of Southern California. In this chapter, I will explore the distribution of this sociolinguistic variable in more detail, as well as looking at two other local variables,/æ/-backing and /æ/-raising.
