Interstellar ChemistryA description is presented of the basic elements of the chemistry of interstellar clouds and the success of models of diffuse, translucent and dense clouds is assessed. The chemical differences between non-dissociative and dissociative shocks are reviewed. A brief discussion is given of the effects of intense ultraviolet radiation fields.

https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-030-98249-2SN1987A is only the second supernova for which the progenitor star has been observed. It is the first supernova to be observed in all wavelength bands: radio, infrared, optical, ultraviolet, X-ray and γ-ray, and it is the first supernova from which neutrinos have been detected.
