Thio-, Seleno-, Telluro-Amides, leading to other thioamides are also presented. The discussion focuses on synthetic methods for selenoamides starting from amides, and functional group manipulations of selenoamides leading to functionalized selenoamides. The review ends with some examples of how to synthesize telluroamides.

Syntheses of heavier dichalcogenocarboxylic acids have only been attempted very recently. This chapter presents the results from recent studies of chalcogenocarboxylic acids, their syntheses, structures and reactions.
