D. Aschemann,T. Kofidis,O. E. Teebkenn demonstrated that several cell cycle genes are activated in developing feeding cells. To analyze the importance of cell cycle activation for the establishment of feeding cells, cell cycle-inhibiting drugs have been used and experiments with plants producing dominant mutant proteins will be performed in the near future.
