Roles of Nectins in Cell Adhesion, Signaling and Polarization cadherins. Nectins furthermore regulate intracellular signaling through Cdc42 and Rac small G proteins and cell polarization through cell polarity proteins. Pathologically, nectins serve as entry and cell-cell spread mediators of herpes simplex viruses.

Cadherin Adhesion: Mechanisms and Molecular Interactionson and maintenance of tissue architecture. Classical cadherins are the best understood class of cadherins. They are single membrane spanning proteins with a divergent extracellular domain of five repeats and a conserved cytoplasmic domain. Binding between cadherin extracellular domains is weak, but

Cadherins in Developmentt the developmental functions of non-classic cadherins, most of our current knowledge of the involvement of cadherins in various cellular processes that guide morphogenesis, such as adhesion, migration, cell shape changes, proliferation, and survival are based on the analysis of classic cadherins. Cadherins in Cancerctures in the mammalian body. This implies that the acquisition of molecular abnormalities that disturb the expression or function of this complex is related to the development and progression of most, if not all, epithelial cell-derived tumors, i.e. carcinomas. E-cadherin downregulation is indeed c

Regulation of Signal Transduction by Integrinsproteins can lead to direct activation of Rho-family GTPases and MAP kinase pathways. However, perhaps the most significant signaling function of integrins is to modulate signal transduction events initiated by receptor tyrosine kinases and G protein-coupled receptors. This probably plays a role in

Integrins and Extracellular Matrix in Animal Modelsnter receptors. Each integrin mediates interactions with specific sets of ligands and regulates distinct aspects of cellular function including attachment to and organization of ECM assemblies, cell migration, proliferation and survival, and mechanical force transmission. Integrins exert their versa
