Cardiomyocyte Senescencelter the phenotype of the endothelial cells, fibroblasts, and immune cells of the heart and thus contribute to pathological remodelling. Non-cardiomyocytes regulate the senescence of cardiomyocyte as well.

How the bidirectional signalling is coordinated during development and promote proliferation of cardiomyocyte progenitors is only partially clear.
