Free-Radical Yields in Proton Irradiation of Oriented DNA: Relationship to Energy Transfer Along DNA energy and charge transfer along DNA chains could be very important in lesion development. This paper describes investigations of these phenomena through model calculations and measurements of radical yields in oriented DNA exposed to proton irradiation.

Biological Action of Single Heavy Ions on Individual Yeast Cellsuter aided image analysis. The results show that the biological action depends on atomic number and specific energy of the impinging heavy ions. A comparison with the results of a model calculation is presented.
