https://doi.org/10.1007/3-540-34400-4Polarographic, viscosimetric and surface tension experiments were carried out with very dilute protein solutions. The curves of all measurements showed a break at the concentrations 0.1–0.3 mg/cm.. It has been supposed that the concentration of the break depends on the lenght of the dissolved protein molekules.

The oxidation and reduction mechanisms have been determined under various proton availabilities of the medium. The significance of the results regarding the respiratory chain is briefly discussed.

The apparently different effects of cytochrome . and hemin on the reduction of oxygen, point to mechanistic differences in the reduction of the ferriporphyrins themselves.
