No Turning Backmpetence, social relatedness, and autonomy, is discussed as a viable approach to this. If this strategy is taken, then effective research relationships can be established and maintained. We argue that supervisors and support staff should be encouraged to use approaches such as this that facilitate research success and positive research journeys.
