Two-level learner modelling in the tutoring of declarative knowledge based problem solving the learner’s acquisition of various factual knowledge or concepts needed, and helps the learner to solve a concrete problem. A learning environment for Accountancy which serves as a case study, has been implemented in Smalltalk V for OS2.

A prototype design for an expert system to identify pupils’ misconceptions in sciencento consideration the practicality of system adoption into present classroom settings. This system was developed using a commercial expert system shell, Leonardo. Results of an initial trial with school pupils and teachers are discussed.

A rigorous framework for measuring development productivity and estimating the effort of multimedia roduct complexity. A waterfall model for multimedia courseware development is used to define stating and finishing points for measurement purposes. On this basis elapsed time, development time, effort, learner time, productivity and effort to learner time ratio are defined along with appropriate units.

IFIP Working Group 3.3: applications of computer related technology; are we making progress?terns, and asks what changes are occurring in the nature of research in this domain over time. This paper also asks what are the emerging issues and if we are making progress. At the conference three Professional Groups will develop these themes.
