Blocking Membranes at Places That Do Not Have Transferred Proteins,, these should be selected experimentally since no single blocking agent is compatible with every experimental system. Kothari and Mathews published a good review recently detailing the use of these blocking agents.

Since the signal is amplified due to several antibodies binding per antigenic target, polyclonal antibodies are more sensitive than monoclonals. The choice of antibodies should be made depending upon the downstream application.
