The Effect of Relative Air Humidity on the Development of Water Saturation Deficit in the Cut Leaveswater deficit occurs most often on warm sunny days when all other factors, such as light, temperature and CO., are very favourable for high net photosynthesis. Under these conditions — relatively small change in water deficit can lead to relatively big changes in photosynthetic rate.

Therefore, applied plant physiology strives to investigate reactions and characteristics which essentially influence the properties of interest or result from a multitude of such individual factors.

Changes in the Water Status in Plants Under Different External and Internal Conditionsing the division of water into these two fractions due to the absence of sharp boundary between them. The ratio of free and bound water depends upon the amount of the water-removing force applied (Tumanov 1940, Alekseev 1948) and is thus an arbitrary value.
