Mathematics,me we learn and practice arithmetic rules that we expect to be able to apply at some point in specific tasks that we encounter in “real” life, for example at work or in regulating our finances. If we can’t see such a possible application, learning them feels like a waste of time.

Reductionism,cles, experiments, observational data, textbooks, etc., together form what I will call the ., a cathedral of knowledge on a vast scale. So vast that by now almost all phenomena and objects we encounter in the world can be classified with their help and explained in a certain sense (see above).
