Design of Underwater Large Sparse 2-D Arrays,ased on the fast method of computing wideband beam pattern is shown. This chapter also reveals that UWB ultrasparse 2-D arrays are promising for obtaining ultralow hardware cost with keeping the same imaging quality. Ultralarge UWB 2-D arrays can help achieve the high angular resolution 0.1° with low cost.

This chapter also points out that all the practical developed 3-D systems work in narrowband, and next-generation underwater real-time 3-D imaging system should be wideband. The structure of this book is also shown.
