Coming down to facts, however,it proved impossible within a single lecture to cover the full subject:The amount of ultrasound work in the field is far too voluminous and varied.

A Biomechanical Model for the Mechanism of AccommodationThe changes in lens thickness during far-to-near and near-to-faraccommodation were measured in 17 healthy young subjects using continuousultrasonographic biometry. With the use of a biomechanical model informationabout the visco-elastic properties of the elements of the accommodativemechanism can be obtained.

Ultrasonographic Evaluation of Axial Length Changes Following Scleral Buckling SurgeryIn order to assess postoperative refractive changes, the influencesof two different scleral buckling surgical techniques on the refractive ocularmedia and on the axial eye length were studied. Buckling with a circlingelement induces a significant enlargement of the eye length and a correspondingnegative sperical refraction change.

Imaging of the Anterior Segment of the Eye by a High Frequency Ultrasonographprecision of 0.2 mm. Cornea, sclera, iris and ciliary body are distinguished. The configuration of the iridocorneal angle and peripheral anterior synechia are well visualized. This compact high frequency ultrasonograph is useful to observe the anterior segment of the eye especially in the out-patient glaucoma ward.

Several related 3D technologies are reviewed and current state of the arts and problems including image processings will be discussed. Finally future trends in 3D images will be described.

Axial Length Measurement in Silicone-Oil-Treated Eyesm/s. It was almost two thirds of that of saline solution. In clinicalcases the result was applicable. Axial length in the silicone-oil injected eyeis to be corrected for sound velocity of silicone-oil for the vitreous compartment.
